Aches, Groans, and Kidney Stones

Well, after a week of pretty intense pain I headed to the hospital where they informed me that I have kidney stones. Great. So I asked them what to expect, what I should do, and how I should or shouldn't alter my lifestyle. Their response: It depends.

Thanks.

Then it seemed like a good idea to get the first-hand account from others who have experienced the joys of passing small solid objects through their urethra. Their response was encouraging: "It's a bit worse than childbirth."

Thanks.

So for the next week I'm laying low, which is frustrating because the meds they gave me for the pain make me feel slightly less motivated than a slug. I'm going to the doc on Monday. Maybe they'll have answers.

Well, I have to say after suffering for a long while I was admitted into the hospital for bladder and kidney infections related to having a stone. One passed just before going to the ER and the other still remains. It has been seven months since finding out I had stones and it has also been a very painful road. I have been in the ER over 4 times because the pain has exacerbated to unbarable. Now I am waiting for another ct scan and then they will be removing it surgically. It has had adverse affects on my kidneys and now I am afraid they may not be reversible because of dealing with this issue for so long. I feel for you and hope you don't have to suffer for as long as I have been.
